The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Saturday announced the winners of the 72nd National Film Awards, recognising Indian films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification between January 1 and December 31, 2024.
Article 370 was named Best Feature Film. Yami Gautam won Best Actress for her performance in the film, while Shashwat Sachdev received the award for Best Music Direction.
The Best Actor award was shared by Mammootty for Bramayugam and Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion. Rajkumar Periasamy won Best Director for Amaran, while Sanjay Mishra received the Best Supporting Actor award for Bhakshak. Kalki 2898 AD was named Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, Captain Miller won Best Film Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values, and Srikanth was recognised as Best Hindi Feature Film.
In the regional categories, Mithya won Best Kannada Feature Film, Feminichi Fathima was named Best Malayalam Feature Film, Raayan won Best Tamil Feature Film, Committee Kurrollu was recognised as Best Telugu Feature Film, and Chalchitra Ekhon won Best Bengali Feature Film, among others.
The National Film Awards are presented by the Government of India. The date for the presentation ceremony, where the President of India will confer the awards, has not yet been announced.
