Fondazione Prada has opened submissions for its annual Film Fund, an international production support initiative for independent feature films with no geographic restrictions, making it accessible to filmmakers and production companies from India and across the world.
The fund supports the creation of independent contemporary cinema, with projects evaluated primarily on their artistic merit and the strength of their production plan. Documentary, fiction and other feature-length genres are all eligible, provided the project has a minimum running time of 65 minutes.
Applications must be submitted by a production company rather than an individual director. Minority co-production companies are also eligible, provided they contribute at least 20% of the project's total budget and meet the fund's eligibility requirements.
Fondazione Prada accepts applications exclusively in English and holds one call for projects each year. The fund does not require recipients to spend the grant in Italy, and projects may apply more than once if they have substantially evolved since their previous submission. A project may receive support at up to two stages of production across separate calls.
Applicants seeking post-production support must submit a rough cut of at least 60 minutes. The application package also requires a pitch deck containing a synopsis, still images, statements from the director and producer, profiles of the creative team, and, where available, a teaser.
For Indian independent producers, the Fondazione Prada Film Fund represents another significant international financing avenue alongside initiatives such as Hubert Bals Fund, World Cinema Fund and Aide aux Cinémas du Monde, particularly for auteur-driven feature projects with international co-production ambitions.
